Participants will be sleeping in tents, participating in day hikes on rough and at times steep terrain, carrying a full day pack, up to 10 miles (16 km) in length, and exploring deep and narrow slot canyons, as well as slickrock. We will be doing mainly primitive camping and day hikes.

Jenevieve's wilderness passions include: SAR, diving, snow sports, disaster and humanitarian relief, outdoor education, canoeing or kayaking, hiking with her wonderful husband and her beagle, Brooklyn. She is currently a practicing Research Physician in South Lake Tahoe, co-founder of the Tahoe Advanced Sports (and Wilderness Medicine) Research Centre, and is collaborating with the CDC and NIEHS on a number of global health and environmental projects in rural northern Vietnam. She is Chair of WMS' Disaster and Humanitarian Committee, is pursuing the Diploma in Dive and Marine Medicine, and is an AWLS Instructor. In August 2016, she received her MPH in Global Health Leadership from the Keck School of Medicine at USC and in September of 2016, completed her FAWM. As a result of being the only professional society specialized in WM education and practice advancement, the WMS is in a unique position to provide a forum for peer review and growth of wilderness medicine fellowship programs. The membership of the WMS includes physicians across many specialty disciplines, academic researchers, midlevel practitioners, nurses, and first responders (including nonmedical personnel) frequently in wilderness or rescue settings. The Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) is the leading professional organization for WM.

This is not surprising, given that the skills and knowledge of WM practice is shared by the fields of emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, anesthesia, orthopedics, ophthalmology, infectious disease, sports medicine, disaster medicine, travel medicine, pre-hospital medicine, and military medicine.

Although many WM fellowships exclusively train emergency medicine physicians, there are several fellowships that train PAs and NPs, as well as other physician specialties. Wilderness Medicine (WM) is unique in its inclusion of multiple medical specialties and multiple types of medical practitioners (Physicians, Physician Assistants (PAs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs)).
